Intensive training for fish farmers underway in Ukhrul

Ukhrul, July 30 2014:
A five-day intensive training for fish farmers in Ukhrul district has begun from today under Centrally sponsored RKVY programme with resource persons drawing up discussion and interaction with the participants.
On Wednesday morning at the district mini secretariat, Ukhrul assistant commissioner Polly Makan and SDC H.Moses graced the inaugural function of the training as chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
District Fishery Officer Khamsing Ahum delivered the key note address and spelt out the needs for organising the training for the benefit of the small-scale fish farmers in the district.
More than 40 farmers are taking part in the training programme that focuses on pre-stocking management, enhancement of livelihood and security through aqua culture, promotion of indigenous fish species, brooders stocking management, economics of fish seed production, present status and scope of fish seed production in Ukhrul district, composite fish farming among others.
In the concluding programme, the training would assess on feedback and interaction of the participants.
