House gutted at Urup Salanpham Mathak

A dwelling house where two families were residing together was completely reduced to cinders by a devastating fire at Urup Salanpham Mathak, Imphal East district under Irilbung police station this morning.
According to information culled from the spot, the devastating fire which gutted the house of Rehna (45) w/o late Md Nurul Islam was suspected to have broken out from an unattended flame.
The raging fire spread to the rooms occupied by late Nurul's elder brother Ahmad Ali and the fire got only intensified with the explosion of an LPG cylinder.
Ahmad Ali's younger brother Mujibur Rahman (35) started catching the fire but people of the neighbourhood were somehow able to control the raging fire and finally the raging fire was doused with the arrival of fire tenders of Manipur Fire Service.
Together with the house, all the household articles belonging to the two families were completely reduced to cinders.
Although the exact monetary value of the goods destroyed could not be worked out so far, it is estimated that goods worth several lakh have been destroyed.
