Free health camp held

A free grand heart and eye camp was organized jointly by Sky Hospital and Research Centre and SKY Eye Care Foundation in association with Manipur Heart Foundation and Manipur State Blindness Control Society under National Programme for Control of Blindness Society (NPCB) at Mela Ground, Thoubal on July 27 from 8 am to 3 pm as a part of hospital social responsibility to the community.
The heart team was led by Dr L Shyamkishore Singh, Chairman cum Chief Cardiologist of SKY Hospital with other heart consultants and medical officers.
155 heart patients were screened and provided free ECG to 76 heart patients.
45 heart patients were taken free echo (Ultrasound) on the camp spot.
Free medicines were also given to all the heart patients.
During the eye camp, Dr Kh Kaminibabu, State Programme Officer, NPCB and 3 other eye specialists screened a total of 310 patients.
Out of the total of eye patients, 31 patients were screened as cataract patients and 10 patients were found to be suffering from Ptyregium.
Free blood sugar tests were also done for 220 patients.
Sky Hospital, RIMS Road Imphal started the initiative of free transport to pick the needy poor patients from door to door from the nearby areas like Wangjing, Yairipok, Keirak, Tentha, Khongjom, Kakching etc.
A spokesperson of the hospital said, they would provide free operation to all the screened cataract patients and the first batch of 10 patients will undergo operation on August 3 at Sky Hospital and Research Center, Porompat, JNIMS Gate, I/E.SKY Hospital & Research Center will be organizing such humanitarian activities from time to time at various districts of Manipur thereby contributing to the betterment of the development of healthcare in Manipur.
