Imphal, July 30 2014:
Even as Athletics coach Okram Chaoba has been put under suspension by an order issued by the Director, Coaching and Personnel, SAI New Delhi, guardians of the girls who were allegedly sexually harassed by Chaoba demanded befitting punish- ment according to law.
The same order also instituted a departmental enquiry against the alleged sexual harassment case.
Guardians of the five girl athletes have condemned in the strongest term the alleged sexual harassment meted out to the young athletes by their coach Okram Chaoba.
They said that they sent their wards to the Special Training Centre so that the girls can train there and become professional athletes with full faith in the teachers/coaches, warden and SAI authority.
"But the report that the five girls were teased and subjected to sexual harassment inside the Speical Training Centre was bewildering and we have lost all our faith", said the anguished guardians.
Speaking to some media persons, they urged the authority concerned to take up befitting action as per the law of the land against the immoral coach.
They also called upon parents of other trainee athletes to lend their voice and ensure that the criminal-minded coach is punished accordingly instead of sitting back just because their wards were not touched.
Saying that the girls are nor suffering from stress and trauma, the guardians expressed strong suspicion whether the girls were intimidated or scolded by other coaches and the warden.
