Surrendered UGs want Govt to fulfill MoU provisions

The cadres of KYKL (MDF), KCP (Lamphel) and URF, who have laid down arms to join the peace talks with the Central and State Governments, have demanded the Government to fulfill all provisions mentioned in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with them.
Talking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, Finance Secretary of the Peace Talk Committee and General Secretary of KCP (Lamphel) Taibanganba said that the cadres have decided to join the mainstream by laying down arms and even signed a MoU to begin the trilateral peace talks.
However, all provisions mentioned in the MoU have not been translated into action by the Government.
The delay in implementing the MoU may become a stumbling block in the peace process, he noted.
The Secretary further appealed to the authorities concerned to shelter the surrendered cadres in proper designated camps; implement the ideal village project; pay regular stipends to the cadres; provide rehabilitation packages and issue arms licenses to the cadres in view of threats and intimidations from other militant groups.
Meanwhile, troops of 9 AR of 26 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (S) launched an operation at Sunrise Ground near Tamil Sangam, Ward No 4, Moreh, and apprehended one MNPF cadre on Mar 24.The apprehendee was identified as Self Style Pte Sothangmi Lungleng (18), S/o Laitson of Khayang village, Ukhrul.
The apprehendee was handed over to Imphal West PS, according to a statement issued by PRO IGAR (S) .
