Covid claims four more lives, infects 63

The Covid-19 pandemic claimed four more lives and newly infected 63 individuals out of 1764 samples tested in the state on Sunday, registering a positivity rate of 3.57 per cent against 5.88 per cent recorded on Saturday.
The four death cases took the cumulative fatality tally to 1911 and they were from Imphal West (3) and Chandel (1).Two of them had taken second dose of Covid vaccine and the other two were unvaccinated.
Out of the 16 districts, 10 reported Covid cases on Sunday with Imphal West reporting highest cases at 28.In terms of positivity rate, Imphal East recorded highest single day positivity rate at 5.2 per cent while Thoubal district recorded lowest positivity rate at 0.8 per cent.
Jiribam, Noney, Pherzawl, Tamenglong and Tengnoupal districts were free from new cases on Sunday.
The active caseload rose to 931 on Sunday out of which 102(10.96 per cent) are in home isolation, 319 (34.26 percent) in CCCs, and 266 (28.57 per cent) in hospitals while whereabouts of 244 patients (26.21 per cent) are not known.
Among the hospitalised patients, 73 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 44 are on oxygen support and 19 on ventilator support.
However, there is no report on number of patients on oxygen and ventilator support from JNIMS even though it has 130 patients.
On the other hand, there are four patients on oxygen support in different CCCs.
There is no updated information regarding bed availability but as of Saturday evening, 638 beds including 107 ICU/HDU beds were available in different hospitals, 2864 beds in different Covid Care Centres and 424 beds (29 ICU/HDU) in district hospitals and CHCs.
So far, the state has recorded 93,892 positive cases and 1537 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.
The current month has recorded 2708 new cases and 56 fatalities out of which 555 new cases and 14 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.
According to official reports, the 63 new positive cases included 62 people (34 male & 28 female) from among the general population and one serviceman of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) whose samples were detected at RIMS (2), JNIMS (12) and other testing centres (49) .
The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (17), Imphal West (27), Thoubal (1), Bishnupur (1), Kakching (1), Ukhrul (3), Chandel (3), Churachandpur (6), Senapati (2) and Kangpokpi (1) .
All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
In the last 24 hours, 89 patients were discharged from home isolation (20), RIMS (2), JNIMS (5) and CCCs (62) .
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,23,292 (general population - 1,18,968 and CAPF personnel - 4,324).Number of recovered cases is 1,20,450 (general population - 1,16,148 and CAPF personnel - 4,302) and number of active cases is 931 (general population - 914 and CAPF personnel - 17) .
The recovery rate is 97.69 per cent.
A total of 724 D-type and 114 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities in the last 24 hours.
At the same time, 10,915 vaccine doses were administered on Saturday which took the cumulative number of vaccinated persons to 12,41,394 including 6,45,820 fully vaccinated individuals.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (42,889), Imphal East (27,279), Thoubal (9428), Churachandpur (10,124), Kangpokpi (2776), Tamenglong (3272), Bishnupur (9139), Senapati (2225), Ukhrul (2922), Kakching (6390), Chandel (2322), Noney (1067), Tengnoupal (1054), Jiribam (1021), Kamiong (920) and Pherzawl (464).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (637), Imphal East (453), Thoubal (173), Churachandpur (160), Kangpokpi (60), Tamenglong (13), Bishnupur (189), Senapati (10), Ukhrul (39), Kakching (111), Chandel (37), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 39,733 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 24,459 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 4,36,637 tests per million population against the national average of 4,29,097 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.55 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 1764 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 3.57 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity came down to 9.10 per cent.
