Four deaths, 270 new cases reported

Imphal, August 23 2021: The state on Monday reported four fatalities and 270 new positive cases out of 2441 samples tested, registering test pOsitivity rate of 11.06 per cent against 10.29 per cent on Sunday.

The active caseload came down to 3706 out of which 1369 (36.94 per cent) are in home isolation, 776 (20.94 per cent) in CHICs, 914 (24.66 per cent) in CCCs and 647 (17.46 per cent) in hospitals.

Among the hospitalised patients, 117 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 233 are on oxygen support and 56 on ventilator support.

However, there is no report on number of patients on oxygen and ventilator support from JNIMS, Hand Hospital and LFS Covid Treatment Centre though these facilities have 183, 27 and 21 patients respectively.

At the same time, 17 patients are also on oxygen support in different CCCs.

As of Monday evening, 403 beds including 80 ICU/HDU beds in different hospitals are vacant.

There is no updated information on bed vacancy in other facilities but as of Sunday evening 2636 beds were available in different CCCs, and 287 beds (21 ICU/HDU) in district hospitals and CHCs.

So far, the state has recorded 81,812 positive cases and 1381 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.

The current month saw an addition of 12,713 new cases and 199 fatalities out of which 2667 new cases and 39 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.

According to official reports, the 270 new cases included 269 people (136 male & 133 female) from among the general population and 1 personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) .

Their samples were tested at RIMS (12), JNIMS (13), District Hospitals (119) and other testing centres (126).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (75), Imphal West (78), Thoubal (12), Bishnupur (14), Kakching (15), Ukhrul (19), Churachandpur (9), Chandel (5), Senapati (13), Tamenglong (10), Tengnoupal (2), Noney (8), Pherzawl (4) and Kangpokpi (5) .

The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 4 Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours but no age and gender information have been provided.

The district wise fatalities are Imphal West (2), Ukhrul (1) and Kakching (1).The cumulative number of deaths has reached 1755.Out of the four victims, two did not have any co-morbid conditions and one had received first dose of Covid vaccine.

So far, 84 partially and four fully vaccinated people have died due to Covid-19.In the last 24 hours, 554 patients were discharged from home isolation (200), RIMS (20), JNIMS (16), CCCs (152) and CHICs (166) .

The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,11,212 (general population - 1,07,122 and CAPF personnel - 4,090).Number of recovered cases is 1,05,751 (general population - 1,01,689 and CAPF personnel - 4,062) and number of active cases is 3,706 (general population - 3,683 and CAPF personnel - 23).The recovery rate is 95.08 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 1461 D-type and 344 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.

Only 1040 vaccine doses were administered on Sunday and the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals has reached 11,76,759.However, only 3,03,944 people have been fully vaccinated though there are 3,75,518 people eligible to get the second shot of Covid vaccine.

Meanwhile, 27 new positive cases were detected out of 110 samples tested from Sunday 2 pm to Monday 2 pm in Kakching.district, thus registering a positivity rate of 24.55 per cent.

Six cases were detected at Jivan Hospital and 21 at government RAT sites.

One is from Chandel, one from Tengnoupal and the rest are from Kakching district, according to DSO Kakchig.

As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (37,479), Imphal East (24,855), Thoubal (9006), Churachandpur (9410), Kang-pokpi (2576), Tamenglong (3022), Bishnupur (8506), Senapati (2019), Ukhrul (2132), Kakching (6058), Chandel (2129), Noney (982), Tengnoupal (lOlo), Jiribam (993), Kamjong (695) and Pherzawl (340) .

Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (583), Imphal East (410), Thoubal (162), Churachandpur (152), Kangpokpi (55), Tamenglong (13), Bishnupur (181), Senapati (7), Ukhrul (24), Kakching (109), Chandel (32), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (12), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (4) and Pherzawl (0) .

However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs and DSOs of some districts.

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 35,840 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 23,261 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 3,81,735 tests per million population against the national average of 3,63,717 TPM.

Case fatality rate stands at 1.58 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, 2441 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 11.06 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate stands at 9.39 per cent.
