State Zoological Garden observes 39th foundation day

Manipur Zoological Garden, which is under the Forest Department of Government of Manipur observed its 39th foundation day on Friday at Zoological Garden Complex, Iroishemba.
Speaking on the ocasion as Chief Guest, Commerce and Industries Minister Govindas Konthoujam said that Manipur owns different varieties of medicinal plants but most of these plans end up wasted due to people's ignorance.
Manipur's economy will be developed if these medicinal plants can be converted into medicines and export the same to other countries, said Govindas.
He also said people from outside the state have claimed that Manipur's money are in the drains since they have not realized the value of medicinal plants in the state.

Appealing all to protect and preserve the gifts presented by the nature, Govindas stated that these "natural beauties" have been protecting the environment.
Deforestation and killing jungle animals threaten the natural environment and helped in extinction of rare breed of birds and animals.
Human beings won't be able to survive if birds and animals do not exist and so humans should know the responsibilities taken up by these birds, animals and trees for human survival, added the minister.
Govindas also claimed that there was a plan to produce Methanol oil from Manipur's bamboos.
The function was attended by Principal Chief Conservator of Forest Department, Bala Prasad (IAS) as president while Additional PCCF cum Chief Wildlife Warden of Forest Department, K Angami (IFS) being the guest of honour.
