Imphal, October 02 2015 :
The Ukhrul unit of BJP is miffed at the way how the State Government has appointed O Nabakishore as the Chief Secretary and has alleged that the appointment has bypassed all existing laws and conventions of service rules.
The BJP Ukhrul Unit said that even as the state continues to reel under "widespread communal discord and distrust" after the passing of the three Bill by the Assembly, the O Ibobi led Government "audaciously appointed O Nabakishore as the Chief Secretary" .
The party reminded that earlier, it had been already made known to the public that Ameising Luikham, an IAS cadre of 1981 batch would replace the outgoing Chief Secretary PC Lawmkunga.
"But all norms pertaining to promotion rules turned topsy-turvy overnight when O Nabakishore, an IAS cadre of 1984 batch suddenly appears in the newspaper as the new Chief Secretary of the State" .
While stating that nobody questioned the personal competency and efficiency of Nabakishore, BJP also expressed happiness that a Meetei Manipuri rose to the highest post for the first time, said the Ukhrul unit of BJP.
Terming the Government step "a little too bold and outrageous", the BJP unit said it was "indicative of nepotism and ethnocentricism at their heights" .
The party recalled that deserving tribal IAS officers including Ameising Luikham had been randomly deputed to other States and this trend most likely was to prevent them from the race to the top post.
