60th Wildlife Week observed

The Divisional Forest Office, Central Forest Division, Manitripukhri observed the 60th Wildlife Week today at Johnstone Higher Secondary School.
The programme was graced by Th Mohendra Pratap Singh, Conservator of Forests, Central Circle, Government of Manipur, L Joykumar Singh, Divisional Forest Officer, Central Forests Division, Government of Manipur and W Chaoba Devi, Principal, Johnstone Higher Secondary School as presidium members.
Speaking at the occasion, Th Mohendra said that animals that are under threat of extinction need protection while urging the people to contribute in conserving wildlife.
The programme has been organised with an aim to spread the importance of wildlife.
All the wildlife sanctuaries in the country are being protected by the departments concerned in order to protect and conserve the animals.
However, without the co-operation of the people, the sanctuaries cannot function effectively, said L Joykumar Singh.
