Imphal, October 02 2015 :
The Ukhrul unit of the BJP has said that even as the State is reeling under rampant and widespread communal discord and distrust in the aftermath of the infamous and dictated PMP Bills, the O Ibobi led Govt has yet audaciously appointed O Nabakishore as the Chief Secretary of the State bypassing all existing laws and conventions of service rules.
It said that earlier on November 30, it had already been made known to the public that Ameising Luikham, an IAS cadre of 1981 batch would replace the outgoing Chief Secretary PC Lawmkunga.
"But all norms pertaining to promotion rules have been turned topsy-turvy overnight when O Nabakishore, an IAS cadre of 1984 batch suddenly appeared in the newspapers as the new Chief Secretary of the State.
"Nobody questions the personal competency and efficiency of Nabakishore and we are happy that a Meitei Manipuri has risen to the highest post for the first time," said the Ukhrul unit of BJP but added, "The conduct and attitude of the State Govt in causing this to happen at the cost of a Tangkhul and tribal IAS officer's career, seniority and prerogative is a little too bold and outrageous and is clearly indicative of nepotism and ethno-centricism" .
It is worth recalling that deserving tribal IAS officers including Ameising Luikham have been randomly deputed to other States, most likely to prevent them from participating in the race to the top post, further charged the BJP, Ukhrul unit.
It won't be wrong to assume that the present State Govt.remembers the more than 90 pc tribal lands only during times of land acquisition, added the statement.
"Otherwise the tribals and their lands remain ignored and are intentionally avoided when it comes to recruitment, promotion, reservation and development," added the BJP unit of Ukhrul.
