The Manipur University Tribals' Union (MUTU) along with Manipur University Eimi Welfare Society today paid homage to the nine 'tribal martyrs' here even as they communicated their support and solidarity to the present movement that seeks to secure the future of the tribal community.
"I am proud of the exemplary sacrifices in which nine heroes and thousands from across the tribal community have responded to the challenge of the three anti-tribal Bills passed by the Manipur Legislative Assembly on 31st August 2015.I also express my deep sense of gratitude and extend my sincere moral support and solidarity to the present demand for whatever honourable political solution for shaping and securing the future of the tribal community," stated a condolence message handed out by MUTU General Secretary.
The message issued on behalf of MUTU also acknowledged the efforts of the JPO, JAC in particular, and the Co-ordinating Committee of ATSUM to keep the movement against the 3 'anti-tribal Bills' moving.
Irrespective of the tragedy and hardships encountered, the MUTU called on the three bodies to continue their efforts until the Government withdraws the Bills in question.
While MUTU extended monetary donations, the MUEWS also gave a traditional shawl each to the martyrs' families.
