Manipur People's Party (MPP) leaders today call on with Governor Gurbachand Jagat and pressed him for his intervention to relief the hardships of the people due to scarcity of commodities.
President Dr Nimaichand Luwang led the delegation of the party in the meeting in which other leaders, former Speaker Dr Dhananjoy, Y Mangi, N Sanajaoba and S Umakanta also took part in the meeting with the Governor in the afternoon today.
The meeting was lasted for about half an hour.
During the meeting MPP leaders drew the attention of the Governor on the impacts of prolonged economic blockade in the state, the continuance of public sufferings even after lifting economic blockade and soaring up of prices of essential commodities.
They have also submitted a memorandum to the Governor in this regards.
It is learnt that the Governor had acknowledged the roll taking part by the MPP in the present situation of the state, in the effort to bring back prices of goods to normalcy.
Meanwhile, MPP have organized a reception programme for the four MPP Youth leaders who raised the price rise issue in the House of Assembly by shouting from visitors' gallery when session was on yesterday courageously.
