The Churachandpur District Students Union (CDSU), Joint Women Association and the Rural Women Upliftment Society (RWUS) in its second time memorandum to the Dy Commissioner Churachandpur, Ms Jacintha Lazarus, IAS give a week time ultimatum to fix or reduce prices of essential commodities in favor of the ordinary man within a week's time or else the three organizations will be compelled to take their course of action, according to a memorandum submitted to the DC/CCpur yesterday.
The same copy of the Memorandum given to the Hueiyen Lanpao correspondent stated that, the Joint organization has submitted a memorandum to the DC/CCpur to release the PDS share of the district but since no efforts has been made in this regard or to reduce the prices of essential commodities by the state government, hence the second memorandum and ultimatum.
"It is a known fact that the public are really frustrated with the prolong state of being denied the right to life and food for such a long period already.
So, once again we request your honour to urgently consider our appeal (to reduce and fix prices) or else, we will not hesitate to come up with measures after waiting for another week, the release stated.
The Three organizations also fixed (recommended) prices for various essential commodities mainly whose prices have drastically gone up after the economic blockade in the state.
The appeal is made for Petrol to cost Rs.60 (sold at 70), diesel at Rs.45 (sold at 55), local rice at Rs.25 (sold at 29), Parmel rice at Rs.23 (sold at 25), super fine rice at Rs.20 (sod at 23-24), sugar at Rs.38 (sold at 40-45), potato at Rs.18 (sold at 20), maida at Rs.20 (sold at 25), atta at Rs.18 (sold at 20), dal at Rs.60,70 and 75 according to the quality.
Mustard oil, soap and detergent at fixed prices.
The three organization has also resolved to have consultation with the local traders and businessmen.
It will inform the public and further monitor local prices, added the statement.
