Group Centre CRPF, Langjing and Mantripukhri-based 69 Bn CRPF celebrated the 71st raising day of the para-military force at their respective locations today.
The celebration at Langjing began by paying homage to the martyrs of the Force who have committed the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty, a GC-CRPF release said.
While highlighting that the first battalion of the Force was raised on this day in 1939, DIG (CRPF) AV Chauhan said that the CRPF had been providing major chunk of the strength to the elite forces like NSG, SPG, SDG etc.

"Moreover, the grit, determination and dedication shown by the cRPF personnel under adverse conditions as well as secular character and impartial attitude of the force have made it the most sought after para-military force in the country and today has transformed to more than 200 battalion strength," the release quoted AV Chauhan as saying.
Meanwhile, feast for children of an orphanage centre, sports activities and a brief statement on its inception marked the raising day celebration held today at headquarters of 69 Bn CRPF, Mantripukhri.

A 'barakhana' for children of an orphanage centre and various sports activities were the other highlight of the anniversary celebration, it added.
