Director General of Assam Rifles, Lt Gen KS Yadava visited the AR camps at Thoubal and Churachandpur districts today where he interacted with the officers and troops and exhorted them to sustain the rich tradition and dedicated services being rendered by the paramilitary force.
Addressing the gathering at the 15 Assam Rifles headquarters at Thoubal today, Lt Gen Yadava called upon all ranks of the unit to ensure that relationships between the people and the security forces are further strengthened.
Attending a Sainik Sammelan organised in connection with his visit as the chief guest, the DGAR pointed out that there is no room for error in a security establishment as the slightest mistake has the potential to tarnish the reputation and hard work of the Assam Rifles.
While stressing on coordination among the officers and soldiers of the Assam Rifles to win not only battles against adversary forces but also win confidence of the local populace, he also expressed elation that dedicated service rendered by the 15 Assam Rifles has been duly acknowledged and awarded in the form of conferring Best Unit Citation by the then Chief of the Army Staff Gen Deepak Kapoor on January 15 last.

This achievement, inspite of being an outcome of dedicated service by the 15 AR is an occasion for the entire Assam Rifles to celebrate, the DGAR stated.
Conferment of DG Commendation award to personnel of the 15 AR namely Kishore Rai and the unit's Commanding Officer Col Sanjay Ghosh presenting memento to the DGAR were the other main highlight of event.
IGAR (S) Maj Gen CA Krishnan, 9 Sector Commander and all ranks of 15 AR were present at the occasion.
At the 27 Sector headquarters in Churachandpur district, the DGAR accompanied by ARWWA president Mrs Meenakshi Yadava were accorded a warm traditional welcome by the local populace and were received by the Sector Commander Brig Surendra Mehta.
According to a PRO IGAR (S) release, the General addressed the troops and lauded efforts of the formation towards maintaining an equilibrium in Churachandpur district and credited each one for the existing state of peace and tranquillity.
Apart from an information interaction between the troops and the DGAR during which many valuable suggestions were put forth, Lt Gen Yadava also decorated four committed soldiers from the Sector with Director General Assam Rifles commendation card for their continuous strive for excellence in their work, the PRO informed.
It is also informed that Mrs Meenakshi Yadava interacted with ladies of the Sector during a special Family Welfare meet.
