Death Anniversary of Irabot observed statewide

The 61st Death Anniversary of Hijam Irabot was observed throughout the state today.
Under the joint aegis of Lamyanba Irabot Ningshinmg Thouram Observation Committee (LINTOC) and Irabot Memorial Trust, Keibi, the commemorative event was observed at Keibi Manaching today.
Speaking on the occasion, the titular King of Manipur, Leishemba Sanajaoba observed that if Hijam Irabot was living today, he would have remained still as an underground activist working for the welfare of the downtrodden people of the state.
He observed that Hijam Irabot has been wrongly interpreted by some people as an individual who was against the king of his time.
In reality, he was not against the king, but was against the administration of the state.
He stood for the welfare of the people and sacrificed his life for the people.
The function was presided Ningthoukhongjam Moirangningthou.
N Rashi Meetei, President of Irabot Memorial Trust; L Shyamkumar, Convener, LINTOC and Soibam Pishak were present as Guests of Honour.
The 61st death anniversary of Hijm Irabot was also observed under the aegis of Hijam Irabot Charitable Trust at Pishumthong Oinam Leirak where a large number of people offered floral tributes to his statue there.
The function was graced by N Raghumani, Chairperson, IMC; RR Chothe; Ng Nongyai, former member, Manipur Human Rights Commission; H Dilipkumar, President, Hijam Irabot Memorial Trust; N Biren, Treasurer of the Trust; L Haridas, President, Yaipha Lamjing Lup; O Deven, President, United Pioneer Club as Presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, N Raghumani said that the people of this generation need to follow the footsteps of Hijam Irabot and bring about a society which is best for the people to dwell in together in love and peace.
The 61st Death anniversary of Hijam Irabot was also observed by All Manipur Progressive Farmers Union at MDU hall, Yaiskul with MLA K Sarat; Joy Nongmaithem, President of All Manipur Progressive Farmers Union and R Chandra Haomei, Advisor of Zeliangrong as the Chief Guest, President and Guest of Honour respectively.
Student's Federation of India (SFI) observed the event at Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace Compound along with organizing a Patriotic song competition.
On the other hand, speaking at the 16th Lamyanba Irabot Memorial Function, 2012 organised by Nongchup Imphal Loumi Sinmi Chaokhat Lup (NILSCTL) at Lamdeng Awang Leikai Community Hall, Imphal West today, Meisnam Sakhi Devi, who spoke as one of the resource persons, pointed out that the title of Jana Neta was given to Hijam Irabot by Ishok Sabha Cachar and not by the people of Manipur.
She also mentioned that Irabot was called out from Cachar to spearhead the public movement during the second Nupi-Lan.
It was under his leadership that womenfolk protested against export of essential commodities especially rice to outside states by British.
Aribam Thaja Devi, Chairperson of Lamsang Nagar Panchayat (LNP) and Shanta Chongtham, President, NILSCTL were respectively Chief Guest and President of the function which was also attended by Thiyam Ibosana Singh, Vice-Chairperson, LNP; Councillors of LNP, Nepram Angou Singh(Ward No.3); Inudam Ibosana Singh, (Ward No.9); L Subhachandra Singh, (Ward No.8); Chingsubam Madhumangol Singh, (Ward No.4); L Devendro Singh,(Ward No.5); Kamsilyu Kamei, (Ward No.2); Yumnam Silla Devi, (Ward No.1) and Phamdom Munindro Metei as Guests of Honour.
Our Kakching correspondent adds: Thoubal District Loumee Lup in association with Langmeithet Loumee Lup today observed the 61st Death Anniversary of Hijam Irabot at Langmeithet Maning Leikai LP School.
Up-Pradhan, Lourembam Gram Panchayat Kangabam Bobi and Executive Member of Thoubal District Loumee Lup, K Jayenta graced the function as Chief Guest and President respectively.
President of Loumee Lup Langmeithet, Maibam Jiten and Secretary Affairs, UCM Thoubal District Committee, M Sanaton also attended as Guests of Honour.
Floral tributes were paid to the photo of Hijam Irabot by the participants of the function.
