Kakching police busts intoxicant shop near school

Imphal, April 22 2022:
A team of Kakching Police on Thursday raided a coffee shop named AK Corner, which is located in the vicinity of Grace Cottage School, Kakching Makha Leikai, Irabot Pareng and recovered large quantity of liquor, cigarettes and 1 gm of ganja (marijuana) with hookah kits.
According to police report, based on verbal complaint received regarding inappropriate activities in AK Corner coffee shop, a police team comprising additional SP (LO) Kakching, Kakching police station OC and personnel, Pallel Commando team and women police conducted search at the shop around 7:30 pm Friday and found about 38 bottles of Myanmar wine (30 per cent alcohol); 44 bottles of DIC liquor; eight bottles of fruit crush used for preparation of local liquor; five boxes containing pre-rolled cigarettes; one polythene box containing cigarettes (100 pieces ap proximately) and one milky bottle containing about 1 gm of ganja (marijuana) and one ganja hookah instrument.
The owner of the AK Corner has been identified as Ksh Karnajit Singh (34), son of Ksh Achouba Singh of Irabot Pareng.
The owner and about nine male youths were picked up by the police team and handed over to Kakching police station for further necessary action.
Further, the team also seized about 35 litres of DIC liquor in the area from another person.
Kakching Police also appealed to all the district's denizens to uphold sanctity of educational institutions.
