Young farmer calls for adopting modern technology

Sagolsem Puren, a young farmer, who has become a social media sensation in a short span of time with his charming words and passion for hard works while explaining everything he does in his farm, has called upon the youth of the state for expansive use of modern technology so as to improve the socio-economic condition of the state.
Popularly known as "Farmer Lairenmamit", which is the name of his Facebook account and You tube channel, the 22-year-old from Wangoo in Kakching district told media persons during a visit with Langthabal MLA Karam Shyam on Friday that it is high time for the youth of the state to venture into whatever profession they want to generate income instead of waiting for government jobs.
It is a common tendency among the youth to get into bad company or bad habits.
But they should also learn to take a turn and put their efforts towards good cause.
The youth can yield good results with hard work and determination and they will get support from the public as well, he said.
Regarding his profession, Puren said that his family has seven 'sangams' of farmland where they grow seasonal vegetables, rice as well as rear fish, poultry and cattle, which bring significant income to his family.
He alone generates Rs 4 to 5 lakh every year from his share of the farmland, Puren said.
As the time changes, one can gain significant knowledge of modern technologies and ideas, and the youth should put these technological advancement into good use to derive maximum benefits from them, he said and stressed the need for the government to extend help and encourage to potential youth.
Extending financial assistance to the farmer, MLA Karam Shyam hailed Puren for his passion in farming and how he is encouraging other youth in the held of farming.
He stressed the need for unemployed youth of the state to take motivation from such farmers and called upon Langthabal Kendra Youth Development Council to encourage youth of Langthabal assembly constituency to take up such works while assuring his assistance.
He then offered Puren membership of the Council and assured further assistance.
He also spoke about how he is helping youth of his constituency to take up entrepreneurial works by providing interest free loans.
The MLA said that he came across the young farmer on social media and media reports.
Upon seeing his passion for farming and self-employment, he felt the urge to lend helping hand to him, which is why he visited him and provided cash assistance, the MLA added.
He also urged the officials of the departments concerned to come down in the field and support such young farmers in order to bring financial freedom and increase the per capita income of the state.
