Two remanded to judicial custody

Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West has remanded two non locals to judicial custody allegedly for demanding Rs 10 lakh from a shop owner for hundi transaction (money) .
Accused Ram Prasad Sharma (24), s/o Sohan Ram Sharma of Samadsar, Sri Dungargarh, Rajasthan and Vinod Sharma (24), s/o Hanraj Sharma of Surpura Bikaneer District, Rajasthan were produced before the Court after the completion of police custody period along with the prayer of judicial custody remand.
IO of the case submitted that on April 11 at around 3 pm, the accused persons went to the Sonu Clothes Shop at Alu Galli, Thangal Bazar and demanded a sum of Rs.10,00,000/- which was to be deposited by one Ramavatar of Bara Bazar, Kolkata through Hundi Money Transaction.
The complainant Sunil Sharma didn't pay them the money following which the two accused tried to use physical force to pay the sum.
Sunil Sharma shouted for help and the two accused fled the scene, the IO told the Court.
In the heat of the event, they left behind a handbag and some fake notes of Rs 500/-.and hence registered a case for investigation.
IO submitted that the investigation conducted so far revealed that both the accused persons worked under the command of Ram Avatar and Muniram Kumar in exchanging fake notes for genuine notes through Hundi money transfer agencies in different States of the country.
Under their command both the accused persons had attempted to collect huge amounts of money several times from different States of the country.
APP for the State also submitted that the case is very serious and hectic efforts are already underway to nab the co-accused persons who are involved in the case from all possible angles.
Thus, the two accused persons were in need to be remanded in judicial custody.
Defense Counsel however told the Court that the accused persons are mere employees who had come to collect transport money from the complainant but the Defense Counsel failed to produce any relevant documents to support his claim.
The Court after hearing both sides remanded the accused to judicial custody till May 6 .
