Imphal, December 18 2009:
22 IPS probationers including six lady officers underwent a nine days attachment training with the army under the aegis of the Red Shield Division from 10 Dec 09, which culminated with an interaction of the IPS officers with Maj Gen DS Hooda, VSM**, GOC Red Shield Division on 18 Dec 09 at the Headquarters at Leimakhong.
Speaking on the occasion, the probationers termed this small stint with the army units as an exciting and prolific attachment with valuable memoirs.
The General also congratulated them for their successful training and wished them well for their bright career ahead and urged them to strengthen the bonding between the Army and the Police.
The IPS probationers were distributed in two groups trained by 4/8 GR and 12 MARATHA LI in their respective locations, on the aspects of organisation and role of army, counter insurgency operations, human rights and modern weapons and equipment profile in the army.
This also included real time exposure on patrolling, MVCPs, ambushes and firing.
These probationers who were from different State Cadres, did it all with full sincerity and have taken home some vital lessons on Internal Security.
They acknowledged the efforts of the army units in training them despite their heavy operational commitments and applauded the efforts of the Security Forces in Manipur in fighting the insurgents in the adverse conditions.
