Imphal, September 15 2013:
The funds sanctioned under Multi-sectoral Development Programme (MsDP) for taking up developmental projects for the minority community in Keirao A/C under Imphal East district have been allegedly misappropriated by the concerned authorities.
Disclosing this to media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, MI Khan of Keirao Kendra Minority Development Organisation (KKMMDO), stated that MsDP which is included among the Prime Minister's 15-point programme for the development of minority communities was launched in 2008-09.The minority sections of the society are to be provided education, health, skill, sanitation and other benefits under this programme.
However, none of the Meitei Pangal minority in Keirao A/C has enjoyed benefits of the programme so far.
There are strong suspicions that the Imphal East DC and Adhyaksha along with Chief Minister O Ibobi have misused huge amounts of funds sanctioned under MsDP, he charged.
MI Khan went on to point out that there are a number of assembly constituencies where the Meitei Pangals settle in Manipur.
But the funds sanctioned under MsDP to these constituencies are not the same.
In Jiribam A/C, where there are 11,067 Muslim population, an amount of Rs 879 lakhs has been sanctioned; Rs 650 lakhs was sanctioned in Andro A/C where the Muslim population is 11,650; an amount of Rs 550 lakhs in Kshetrigao A/C where the Muslim population is 11,550.However, in Keirao A/C where the Muslim population is 10,780, a meagre amount of Rs 50 lakhs has been sanctioned under MsDP which is very unfortunate, he said, adding that the government should look at all A/Cs with an equal eye for the welfare of the minority community.
Legal action would be taken up if the government does not provide equal benefits to all the Muslim in the State, MI Khan warned.
