Imphal, September 15 2013:
Outer Manipur Lok Sabha MP Thangso Baite has earned the wrath of All Tribal Students' Union, Manipur (ATSUM) for his alleged lethargic and indifferent to issues pertaining to the tribal people and the five hill districts of Manipur, which is his constituency.
ATSUM alleged that the sitting Lok Sabha MP from Outer Manipur Parliamentary constituency lacks interest in addressing the issues.
"There have been cries of the hill people expecting his attention in many areas but Thangso Baite ignores the tribal people as a whole by not bothering to pay his attention to our cries," ATSUM leaders said today while talking to a section of media persons.
"There has been no sign of the MP funds being implemented by him.
We shall be the happiest to substantiate these charges but with the anticipation that justice will be done to our pleas, we are restraining at the moment," said the ATSUM leaders.
Articulating on the performance of Thangso Baite, the student leaders said, "It is not about what funds or schemes the Lok Sabha MP (Thangso Baite) has not implemented; it is rather what are the funds the MP has implemented" .
ATSUM leaders then pointed out that issues of health, education, border fencing, autonomy to the ADCs and most recently the Meiteis Scheduled Tribe status demand issue have been echoing but Thangso Baite chooses to remain in his cosy chair while remaining mute.
"Has anyone of us heard anything responsibly from our MP?" asked the tribal student leaders.
They then earnestly appealed to both the state legislators and the MPs to put their acts together and at least guide the poor hill people so as to have a decent living.
"If this is not done it may be reflected in the impending Lok Sabha polls," cautioned the ATSUM leaders.
