The State Election Commission will be conducting an inquiry to check foreign nationals having voting ID cards illegally in the state very soon, Chief Electoral Officer PC Lamkwunga has assured.
He was talking to mediapersons on the sideline of launching Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) campaign at his office at Lamphelpat here today.
The campaign has been launched with an aim to encourage participation of the electors in the Manipur Special Summary Revision of Electoral Roll scheduled next year.
Lamkwunga said that the SVEEP campaign conducted before the General Election this year yielded positive result.

It spread awareness on voting rights and rules among the electors.
The campaign was again launched today under the instruction of the Election Commission of India for the scheduled Special Summary Revision next year.
He further said that awareness programmes on voter education will be held in different parts of the state as part of the campaign.
Special programmes will also be telecast in DDK Imphal and AIR Imphal.
The CEO Office is putting its best efforts to maintain a true and updated photo electoral roll.
So far, the office has completed 99.95% of the photo electoral rolls exercise while 97.3% of Electoral Photo ID Cards have been issued to respective electors.
The remaining will be completed soon, he said.
