Mishap claims 3 at Maibamlokpa Ching

Imphal, September 14 2012:
Three people including a driver and an aunt-niece duo have been killed while 10 others sustained injuries when a truck and a jeep collided head on at Maibamlokpa Ching along Tidim Road in Bishnupur district under Nambol police station at about 11.30 am today.
The Gypsy (MN-05A/0914) was heading towards Imphal from Kwakta while the truck (MN-01/7754) was travelling in the opposite direction.
The deceased have been identified as Samina Bibi (45) w/o Noor Mohamad of Kwakta but staying at Golapati, her niece (daughter of younger sister) Ruksana (15) and Md Afzal (18) s/o Hussain.
Md Afzal was driving the Gypsy while Samina and Ruksana were travelling in it.
Altogether 13 people were travelling in the Gypsy and they were returning after casting their votes for the Panchayat election at Kwakta yesterday.
While three of them were killed, the remaining 10 too sustained injuries of varying degrees.
Whereas Samina and Afzal were killed on the spot, Ruksana succumbed to injuries at Shija Hospital this afternoon.
Though Ruksana was Samina's younger sister's daughter, Samina had adopted her.
Among the 10 injured victims, six are said to be critical.
They are being treated at Shija Hospital and JNIMS.
Though the truck driver and his assistant had fled away, the truck has been taken into the custody of Nambol police station.
A case has also been registered.
It is reported that bodies of the three deceased victims are being kept at RIMS mortuary.
