With rumours doing the round that the general election for the Lok Sabha being scheduled in May this year, national political parties have reportedly pulled up their socks to face the election and national political parties' leaders of the State have reportedly began to leave Imphal responding the calls from their respective national level leaders.
According to source from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Manipur Pradesh, the BJP is organising the party's National Council at Nagpur on 7-8 of this month with a clear expectation to topple the incumbent government run by the Congress led United Peoples' Alliance (UPA) by the BJP led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) .
The Council will be followed by the BJP National Executive meeting on February 9.The BJP Manipur Pradesh president Haobam Borababu and former Manipur Pradesh BJP president, and permanent invitees of the national executive committee and the present National Executive member of the BJP Meisnam Bhorot have left Imphal to participate in the said meeting, according to the source.
The National Council and Executive meetings of the party are said to discuss on matter relating to fielding of candidates for the coming Lok Sabha election at length, according to the source.
It also said that the party candidate for the outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency will be decided and announced later after the National Council and Executive meetings to be held early this month.
It may be mentioned that the party has announced earlier that the ex-Manipur Chief Minister W Nipamacha as the party's candidate in the inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency for the coming parliamentary election.
The party is also said to organize election-related district level meetings after February 12 in the State and the members are also reportedly contributing their might to brace the party's strength in the State as well as they are ensuring all efforts to emerge victory in the coming general election.
Meanwhile, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) is also convening a National Convention on eight of this month at New Delhi, according to the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) workers.
The source further said that MPCC office bearers, district's presidents, trade workers, youth workers and Mahila workers are soon to leave Imphal for New Delhi to attend the meeting.
It also said that the AICC meeting will thrash out mainly on issue concerning the impending Lok Sabha election.
The party's candidates for the inner and outer Manipur constituencies will be decided and made known soon after the National Convention while adding that the party will soon invite application from aspiring candidates.
The MPCC has been continuously and cautiously working to ensure victory in the coming election and it will be doing so in the future as well, said the source.
On the other hand, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Manipur Units is also convening a central executive meeting to discuss matter relating to the impending Lok Sabha election on February 4 at the party's office located at Babupara in Imphal according to source from the RJD Manipur unit.
The party will also be forwarding the resolutions adopted during the meeting to RJD's central leaders.
The party will also come out clear on what policy should be adopted in the coming Lok Sabha election after the meeting, the source revealed.
