Even as employees of FCS Department have been protesting against the abduction of three District Supply Officers (DSOs) in connection with a demand of Rs 1 crore, a Project Officer of Fishery Department has also been reportedly abducted by unidentified armed persons from his house last evening.
According to information received by the press, the Project Officer identified as Huidrom Biramani Singh had been abducted by some unidentified armed persons who came to his house at Sagolband last evening.
Why the Project Officer has been abducted or which group is behind the abduction have not yet been able to ascertain, though it is suspected that it may connection with monetary demand.
On the other hand, decrying abduction of Wangkheimayum Deben (51) of Wangkhei Khunou who is the District Supply Officer (DSO) of Imphal East and demanding his immediate release, people of the area staged a Wakat Meepham at the ground of Citizens' Club at Soibam Leikai today.
A large number of people mostly womenfolk participated in the protest demonstration.
Deben had been reportedly abducted along with DSO of Bishnupur Th Bhumeshore and DSO of Imphal West S Iboton by unidentified gunmen on January 30 in connection with a monetary demand of Rs 1 crore.
DSO Deben is said to be the president of the Citizens' Club.
Secretary of the Club N Sadananda has appealed to the unknown abductors to release Deben in view of the developmental activities of the Club to be taken up by him as well as in consideration of the suffering that his family members has been going through.
On the other hand, in protest against the abduction of the three DSOs, employees have stopped loading and unloading of rice and other essential commodities from the FCS godown at Sangaiprou from today.
