LOCALS OF the Soibam Leikai today staged sit-in protest against the abduction and detention of district supply officer, Imphal east of the state food and civil supply department, W Deven who is also the president of the Citizens' Club, Soibam Leikai by some unknown persons suspected to be undergrounds.
Three district supply officers of the state FCS department namely S Iboton (Imphal west district supply officer), W Deven (Imphal east district supply officer) and Th Bhumeshore (Bishnupur district supply officer) who have been abducted by the a group of undergrounds on Friday last could not remained untraced.
The sit-in protest commenced from around 10 am and went on till 4 pm and during the protest locals demanded safe and unconditional release of Deven on humanitarian grounds.
Placards with slogans "Release our president safely" among others was also displayed at the protest said.
Wife of Deven, W Sumila alias Nungsi who also attended the protest said that her husband failed to return back home after he had gone out for office on January 30 last.
She came to know that he had abducted by the undergrounds when family search where had he gone.
No demand by any underground group was made on him.
Considering for his children and family, please release him, Sumila appealed.
A functionary of the Citizens' Club while appealing the abductors to release Deven at the earliest said that he is also president of the local club and his absent has also affected to the working of the club.
