THE NEW Testament, a bible book in Monsang dialect was released today in a function held at Japhou Baptist Church in Chandel district organized by the Monsang Naga Baptist Church Association and the Bible Society of India.
Monsang tribes are those who worship to the almighty in the early time but since the arrival of Christian religion in the state in 1928, some of them had converted into Baptist while some converted into Catholic.
Thus change their religion.
Monsang tribe is settling in seven different villages in the district.
Out of this, Monsang Pantho and Meeleen villages follow the Roman Catholic while other five villages follow Baptist.
The bishop of the north east IndiaBaptist Church was also become by one man from the Monsang tribe.
Speaking on the occasion, translation advisor of Bible Society of India, Shillong Rev Zambolis said the book was the first of work of bible translating into Monsang language.
The work of translation started from October 1997.but unfortunately after the dead of Rev Th Kotha, the completion of the work was delayed.
With the effort of the Monsang people, today, the bible in Monsang dialect has been published, he said with happiness.
Today's function president of the auxiliary secretary BSI, Dimapur Branch Dr Rochil handed over the book to the people after released it.
The occasion was which was moderated by Kh John pastor, Japhou Baptist Church was marked by performance of traditional and cultural songs and dance.
