As the 12th State Level Open Devala Memorial Trophy Tennisball Cricket Tournament, 2009 organised by Blooming Athletics and Sports Union (BASU), Khangabok concluded today at BASU ground, Khangabok, CAT, Tentha clinched the champion's trophy after defeating their opponent LCA, Khangabok in the final match played today.
In the final match played today, CAT, Tentha won the match by three wickets after defeating opponent LCA.
Winner CAT, Tentha got a cash prize of Rs 7,000 along with the coveted trophy and certificate.
Runners up team LCA, Khangabok was awarded a cash prize of Rs 5,000 along with the trophy and certificate.
Th Naoba of CAT was awarded the title of man of the match.
He took three wickets and gave 11 runs in three overs.
He was awarded with a cricket bat and a certificate.
The title of man of the series went to L Romesh of LCA, Khangabok.
He was also awarded with a cricket bat and a certificate.
In today's final match, LCA won toss and elected to bat first.
They scored 76 runs in facing all the 20 overs in the first innings.
They lose eight wickets.
In pursuit of the target set by LCA, CAT scored 77 runs in 19 overs by losing only seven wickets in the second innings.
MP, Lok Sabha, Dr T Meinya and MLA, M Prithiviraj graced the closing function as chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
MLA, Dr Kh Ratankumar presided over the function.
Students of New Public Higher Secondary School displayed bhartyam as part of the closing ceremony.
