Health care sector developed significantly: Dr Palin

The opening of an emergency department in Shija Hospitals and Research Institute has not only facilitated in providing emergency medical care and medicines, but also given a boost to development of the health care sector, stated Hospital man aging director Dr Kh Palin.
He made the statement during the distribution function of 15th Khundongbam Itocha Memorial Awatd to 17 students from Heirok AC, which was organised by So cial Cultural Education and Sports Development Organisation, on Friday.
The award is presented annually to meritorious students of Heirok AC who score high marks in Class X and XII examinations conducted by BSEM, CoHSEM and CBSE respectively.
In his speech, Dr Palin informed that after the Shija Medical College was established, a 700-bedded hospital is being constructed to further broaden the scope for access to health care in the state.
Regarding the function, the managing director that informed a total of 39 medical students from the constituency have been conferred the award in the past 15 years.
He then said that the award, dedicated in the name of his late father Kh Itocha Singh under Shija Foundation, will continue to be presented so as to encourage the students.
Speaking on the occasion, Hospital's medical services director Dr S Jugindro remarked that doctors are apprehensive in treating patients, as they often become the target of the patients' party when their loved ones could not be saved.
However, if a patient party assaults a doctor or causes damage to hospital property, they are liable to be immediately arrested and face huge fine under the law.
Thus, he appealed to the young doctors to continue treating their patients sincerely without any reservation over the past incidents.
It may be mentioned here that Kh Itocha participated in many people's movement as one of the important followers of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot.
He was appointed as one of the 30 territorial council members before Manipur attained statehood in 1957, and took up many development works in Heirok AC including establishing many schools.
