Covid claims one, newly infects 17

Imphal, December 26 2021:
Covid-19 has claimed one more life on Sunday as the state reported 17 new positive cases out of 712 samples tested in the last 24 hours, registering a positivity rate of 2.39 per cent against 1.19 percent recorded on Saturday.
The lone death case reported on Sunday was an unvaccinated resident of Imphal West district and it took the tally of fatalities to 2001 .
The active caseload now stands at 182 out of which 17 (9.34 per cent) are in home isolation.
There is no updated information on bed availabilities in hospitals and Covid Care Centres.
Out of the 16 districts, only five reported fresh Covid cases on Sunday.
So far, the state has recorded 96,323 positive cases and 1627 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.
The current month has seen 518 new positive cases and 24 fatalities out of which 96 new cases and 6 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.
According to official reports, all the 17 new positive cases (11 male & 6 female) are from among the general population and their samples were confirmed at RIMS (1), JNIMS (3) and other testing centres (13).The positive cases are from Imphal East (8), Imphal West (6), Thoubal (1), Bishnupur (1) and Kakching (1) .
All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
In the last 24 hours, 16 patients were discharged from home isolation (7), JNIMS (4) and CCCs (5) .
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,25,723 (general population -1,21,289 and CAPF personnel - 4,434) .
Number of recovered cases is 1,23,540 (general population - 1,19,112 and CAPF personnel - 4,428) and number of active cases is 182 (general population - 181 and CAPF personnel - 1) .
The recovery rate is 98.26 per cent.
A total of 439 D-type and 89 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, only 1264 vaccine doses were administered on Saturday and it took the cumulative number of vaccinated people to 13,19,028 out of which 9,76,377 are fully vaccinated.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (44,126), Imphal East (27,941), Thoubal (9491), Churachandpur (10,192), Kangpokpi (2793), Tamenglohg (3284), Bishnupur (9237), Senapati (2249), Ukhrul (2998), Kakching (6451), Chandel (2366), Noney (1076), Tengnoupal (1077), Jiribam (1023), Kamiong (955) and Pherzawl (464) .
Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (671), Imphal East (479), Thoubal (179), Churachandpur (163), Kangpokpi (62), Tamenglong (14), Bishnupur (194), Senapati (10), Ukhrul (44), Kakching (115), Chandel (41), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 40,517 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 24,846 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 4,68,951 tests per million population against the national average of 4,79,968 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.59 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 712 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 2.39 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity stands at 8.64 per cent.
