Imphal, July 26, 2012:
Oinam Block Congress Committee has alleged that PDS agents have been indulging in massive malpractices and irregularities in distribution of PDS items within Oinam Nagar Panchayat in Bishnupur district.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here this afternoon, Oinam BCC president Oinam Ibochouba said that PDS rice was not distributed in allotted quantity in the nine wards of the Gram Panchayat.
As per the records available with the District Supply Officer, each BPL/AAY card hold should get 30 to 35 Kgs of rice in a month.
But the agents have been distributing only 10 to 15 Kgs of rice in a very irregular manner.
Talking about SK oil, Oinam BCC vice-president Waikhom David said that as per rules each beneficiary should get five litres of SK Oil every month for which the DSO Bishnupur has been issuing permits without any interruption.
Nevertheless, there were times when the agents could not lift SKoil due to bandh or blockade.
In such cases, SK oil quota for the particular months should be distributed when quota of successive months were distributed.
But in Oinam Gram Panchayat, only half a litre of SK Oil were distributed to beneficiaries last month which was increased to a trifling one litre this month, David said.
He also sought immediate attention of the concerned DC and the DSO to look into these malpractices and irregularities.
