Van Mahotsava observed at Leimakhong

Imphal, July 26, 2012:
Van Mahotsava was celebrated at Leimakhong Military Station, where more than 4200 saplings were planted under the aegis of Family Welfare Organisation, Red Shield Division.
According to a PIB (DW) statement, GOC Red Shield Division Maj Gen Binoy Poonnen and Mrs Annie Poonnen, Chairperson, Family Welfare Centre, Red Shield Division led the plantation drive.
The saplings planted included Bakul, Banana, Cattley Guava, Cupricus, Gulmohar, Heijuga (wild walnut).
Jack fruit, Jarol and Javamica.
All ranks of the Division pledged their allegiance to Mother Earth, the forests, air and water, conveyed the statement.
They all joined hands to strive for a single cause, which is to have a "Clean and a very Green Leimakhong".
The event was celebrated with fervour and enthusiasm by all ranks.
