UFO I/E Hq celebrates 18th Raising Day

Universal Friendship Organisation (UFO) Imphal East Headquarter No 1 celebrated its 18th Raising Day at its Langthabal Kunja Battalion near Moirang Subedar Lampak, Imphal West today.
The celebration function was graced by CAF&PD and Revenue Minister Karam Shyam as chief guest; Prof Th Ratankumar, Director, College Development Council, Manipur University; Asem Kenedy, principal of Imphal Public School, Canchipur; Lamabam Lalmani Meitei, Chairperson of Lilong Nagar Panchayat and Councillor Chongtham Keshokumar Meitei as guests of honour.
In his keynote address, Meinam Mooriba Meitei, general secretary, UFO (Central) said that the name UFO coined in 2003 was earlier known as SATJAL Academy formed in 1934 and Scientific Defence Cultural Society formed in 1967 .
He said that the main objectives of the organisation is to restore the 'deteriorating' discipline amongst the people especially youngsters in the society and promote age-old religious tradition and customs.
He informed that there are 38 battalions and 223 branches of UFO at present.
