Women Action for Development thanks officials for reuniting mother with son

Women Action for Development (WAD) has appreciated and acknowledged Ningthoujam Sumatibala, Chairperson Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR), Keisham Pradip, Montu Ahanthem and Yumnam Bobby (Program Officer), and the entire staffs of MCPCR for their support and swift which reunited a mother identified as S Bijenti and her four years old son.
The mother who hails from Langathel was a victim of domestic violence, said WAD in a statement today issued by its secretary Sobita Mangsatabam.
"Bijenti had been struggling and running from pillar to post to get back her son from her separated husband Soibam Punshiba of Khongjom Sangaikhong, Thoubal district.
As a last resort, she approached Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Meeyamgi Numit and finally got justice," said WAD lauding the CM for his actions.
WAD thanked two senior most child psychologists of RIMS Hospital for their contribution in assessing the mental health of the child and the SP in-charge of Thoubal district, Additional SP Wungpum Kasar and the team of Thoubal Women Police Station for their support and cooperation in producing the child along with his father at MCPCR premises on November 17.It also thanked Domestic Violence Survivors Forum for their heartfelt and tired less support to the mother and appealed all authorities concerned such as the Child Welfare Committee, Child Line, District Child Protection Unit etc of the State to perform their duties with dedication and without delay.
