Imphal, August 11 2015 :
Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) on Tuesday reaffirmed its stand to skip the meeting with the Government representatives scheduled for Wednesday (August 12) if the latter fails to release all students who are under detention.
On Monday, JCILPS demanded the Government to free all students, Kh Ratan told reporters on Tuesday in Sagolband.
"If the Government declines to release the students, we will not attend the second round of talks," Ratan reaffirmed.
Ratan further said that JCILPS had formally invited the Joint Action Committee (JAC) formed against the brutal killing of Sapam Robinhood alias Thoi to attend Monday's meeting with the Government.
The JAC was supposed to take part in the talks, but it refused at the last moment since the Government did not formally invite the committee, added Ratan.
Ratan said that JCILPS had a telephonic conversation with the JAC team and requested for a face-to-face discussion after the first round of talks with the Government.
Asked if the Joint Committee would be claiming the body of Sapam Robinhood, Ratan said that JCILPS cannot do anything without the consent of Robinhood's family and the JAC.
JCILPS has never finalized with the Government to claim Robinhood's body, Ratan clarified and added that for this, consent of the JAC, the family and local clubs is needed.
