Imphal, August 11 2015 :
One Th Rupabati (41) w/o Th Sangeet (41) of Kwakeithel Konjeng Leikai died at RIMS during child delivery today.
Not long after Rupabati was taken inside the operation theatre, Dr Praneshwori declared that Rupabati had succumbed to heart attack at around 11.40 am.
Before Rupabati was taken inside the operation theatre, doctors said that her health condition was fine except for the sugar level which was a bit high, according to the victim's sister-in-law N Ronibala.
She alleged that Rupabati died due to laxity on the part of Dr Praneshwori.
It was after all precautionary security measures have been taken up that Dr Praneshwori declared the death of Rupabati.
All the documents pertaining to Rupabati's routine as well as random medical check-ups were kept with the doctor instead of handing them over to family members.
Meanwhile, a joint action committee has been constituted in connection with the death of Rupabati.
JAC co-convenor I Jiten demanded post mortem examination of Rupabati's body.
Dr Praneshwori never said that Rupabati had any heart problem.
She must be terminated from service, Jiten demanded.
He also appealed to all the people not to ever consult Dr Praneshwori again.
Following a meeting between representatives of the JAC and the RIMS Medical Superintendent, it was agreed to institute an enquiry into the death of Rupabati.
The Medical Superintendent has given a written assurance to this effect.
Moreover, Dr Praneshwori has been placed under suspension for 14 days with effect from today.
Meanwhile, the JAC has appealed to the Medical Superintendent to ensure a transparent enquiry in order to establish the exact causes of Rupabati's death.
In protest against the death of Rupabati, Mayai Lambi was blocked at Konjeng Leikai by a group of aggrieved people.
