Imphal, August 08 2021:
Stating that he always has high regards for journalists for their selfless service, Congress MLA Kh Joykisan has urged AMWJU and editors to filter out unverified reports from publishing.
In a video released on Sunday, the Thangmeiband MLA said that he always respects the journalists of the state and he also highlights issues reported in the media in the state assembly.
He also extended helping hands whenever any journalists experience health issues and enquired about their conditions.
Several journalists refuse to publish any personal allegations without proper evidence and he respects such stands of the journalists.
Unfortunately, a few journalists are trying to misuse the platform for reasons best known to them.
Recently, special correspondent of Statesman Yambem Laba accused him of accepting Rs 3 crore for joining Congress party in one of his articles.
The CLP leader advised him not to go down to his (Yambem Laba's) level but he feels it necessary to respond to the allegations after seeing some more allegations being levelled against him during a discussion programme of an electronic media channel.
He said that the allegation of him accepting Rs 3 crore for joining Congress is baseless and one can verify the fact from the CLP leader himself.
Moreover, Laba alleged him of mortgaging his house for Rs 8 crore.
He then challenged Laba to bring out any proof to support his claim and said that he will quit politics if he could substantiate the charges.
The MLA also said that Yambem Laba turns out to be a journalist who often publishes baseless allegations against political ieaders and he yearns to get fame by making controversial statements.
Laba also seems to understand that he might face defamation suit for his wild allegations which proves that he knows that his allegations do not have any basis, Joykisan said while expressing suspicions if Laba is colluding with his political opponents.
Onthe other haHd, BJP Thangmeiband Mandal is alleging him of providing PDS rice to rich families in violation of PDS rules.
Instead of coming up with such baseless allegations, it would be better if they consulted with the BJP government and enquired about the quantity of PDS rice distributed in the constituency.
As for the question of providing rice to rich families, it is true and the reason is the pandemic and related restrictions imposed by the government are affecting the poor and rich equally in terms of food availability.
BJP executive member and the party's candidate from the constituency Jyotin Waikhom himself was seen standing in queue for getting rice, he said and urged the Mandal to ask Jyotin Waikhom not to go for the rice if they are against the arrangement.
It is unfortunate for the BJP Mandal to come out suddenly and level charges against him out of the blue while remaining hidden since the pandemic broke out, Joykisan said.
