Ukhrul, June 08 2015 :
The recent revocation of ex-communication order against 12 former Ukhrul Autonomous District Council (ADC) members by the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) is apparently setting a domino effect rolling with one more member surrendered to the customary body on June 6 last, while a few more are ready to follow suit.
"We have, thus far, received a total of 13 former ADC members who came forward to surrender after resigning from their INC membership," TNL President V Weapon Zimik told Hueiyen Lanpao Correspondent over the phone Monday evening, while adding that some more members are homeward bound.
Stating that now only some 7 members would be remaining excommunicated by the Tangkhul community, he further informed that a total of 22 council members contested the previous council election against the wish of the Nagas.
It may be recalled that TNL recently organized home-coming ceremonies to welcome a group of surrendered former Ukhrul Council members ahead of the just concluded June 1 MHAADC polls.
A total of 22 Congress ADC members from Ukhrul district had been ex-communicated by the Tangkhul apex body under the directive of the United Naga Council (UNC) for contesting MHAADC Election 2011-15 by defying the boycott call by the Council.
UNC had subsequently ordered the excommunication call against all the council members on 14 May, 2011 .
Meanwhile, a press release issued by TNL president today informed that former ADC member Ngashanchui Horam hailing from Halang Village has been received by the Tangkhul apex body during a home coming ceremony held at TNL President Office Chamber on Saturday last.
President Zimik in his welcome address declared revocation of the excommunication call against Horam from the day.
TNL functionaries and chairman of Ato/Northern Longphang among others attended the function.
