Educational institutes to re-open on Sep 4

After shutting down all educational institutes in the State for nearly two months, Joint Students' Coordinating Committee (JSCC) and four organisations have agreed to allow resumption of academic activities from September 4 .
A joint meeting of All Manipur Students' Guardian Association, All Manipur Private School Welfare Association, Private School Development Council, Thoubal, All Manipur School Students' Transporters Association and JSCC was held on Wednesday at AMSU head office, DM College Campus.
Co-convener of JSCC, Sanasam Subhaschandra recalled that Sapam Robinhood, a student of Ananda Singh Higher Secondary Academy, was brutally killed by security forces on July 8 last while taking part in a protest demanding implementation of ILPS in Manipur.
All the educational institutes in Imphal East and Imphal West were forced to shut down following intensified ILPS movement after the death of Sapam Robinhood, said Subhaschandra.
Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) had held several rounds of talks with the Manipur Government on the ILPS issue and as a result, the three bills were passed in the State Assembly on August 31, he said.
The Government and the JCILPS have already agreed to perform the last rites of Sapam Robinhoon on Thursday, added Subhaschandra.
From September 4, Friday all the educational institutions in Imphal East and Imphal West districts will be allowed to reopen and resumed normal classes, announced Subhaschandra while urging all the local clubs, meira paibis and social organisations to support the resumption of classes.
Speaking at the press meet, All Manipur Private School Welfare Association leader L Joy Khuman called on all the schools and colleges to charge only 30% fee from their students for the last two months.
Joy Khuman also appealed to all school service vehicles to charge only 50% fee.
He also appealed to all the school authorities to pay only 50% salary to teachers for the two months.
He further informed all the catholic and CBSE institutes to follow the same.
