AR saves injured deer in CCpur

Imphal, August 19 2011:
The 27 Sector Assam Rifles under Red Shield Division added another feather to its achievements by saving one abandoned and injured deer foal.
The abandoned deer foal was retrieved from a dug up pit in the dense jungles near the Singhat by a column of 39 Assam Rifles while on a patrol from their Company Operating Base.
The deer foal aged approximately six months had fallen in a pit laid as a trap probably by the hunters and was injured .
The animal was given immediate nursing and was fed.
The foal was brought to HQ 27 Sector Assam Rifles.
The animal has been taken to Imphal to be handed over to the Zoo authorities where it will get adequate care and a protected environment.
The efforts of the Sector have been lauded by the local populace and is another milestone towards the protection of wildlife in the environment.
