Baby of Senapati rape survivor out of danger, discharged from hospital

Kangpokpi, June 08 2018: The prematurely born baby of a rape survivor from Senapati is out of danger and well after tireless efforts from the doctors and caretakers of the JNIMS hospital.

The baby was only 33 weeks old and weighed only 1.6 kg when she was admitted at 3-NICU, JNIMS Hospital, Imphal on May 29 under the watchful eyes of Dr Mangi and Dr Ranbir Singh, Superintendent of JNIMS Hospital after she was transported from Senapati under highly unfavourable circumstances.

She was discharged from JNIMS Hospital on June 6 afternoon and brought to her new home at Compassionate Children Ministries (CCM), a Children Care Institute (CCI) as well as Adoption Centre in Kathikho Senapati District.

"Baby Sania is finally home and she is well and fine.

Her brothers and sisters at the home are very happy to see baby Sania," said CCM Adoption Centre, Senapati SAA Manager, Robin Raomai after they reached the child care institute.

Robin Raomai praised God and stated that the baby survived by the 'special grace of God' and compassionate love and care shown by all concerned.

Born at the District Hospital Senapati on May 28 with critical condition the doctors and nurses tried their level best but due to lack of facility in the hospital, the baby had to be transferred to another hospital.

Dr Komuha Jajuo, Valleynica from Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Senapati, Chingpai from DCPO Senapati, Robin Raomai, president, Compassion Children Ministries (CCM) and his staff rescued the baby.

After signing the deed of surrender by the minor girl (mother) and her parents, the baby was handed over to CCM Adoption Centre.

The baby was the taken to JNIMS Hospital.

Following the strict instructions from Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister Nemcha Kipgen, a team of Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR) visited and inquired about the condition of the baby and met Medical Superintendent Dr Ranbir to save the baby by any means.

Robin Raomai conveyed sincere gratitude on behalf of the CCM Adoption Centre Senapati SAA, especially to Social Welfare Minister Nemcha Kipgen, Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights, JNIMS Hospital authority including doctors and nurses, MACR, CRY, District Hospital Senapati, Print and Electronics medias, and all those who put their best, love and care for the survival of the baby.
