Imphal, June 08 2018:
The All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM) has expressed deep concern regarding the Manipur University issue which has led to indefinite suspension of the university semester examination.
A press communiqu issued by the information and publicity secretary of ATSUM, Micah Kamei today conveyed that it is rather unfortunate that the month of June is marked with various crisis in the universities of the State.
However, ATSUM reasoned that whatever may be the reason for the agitation, the State Government should not remain a silent spectator but rather should put sincere efforts to try and resolve the prevailing students' unrest in the three universities.
If the current situation prolongs, it will have a large impact on the academic pursuit of promising and bright students.
ATSUM claimed that many students are being trapped between a rock and a hard place as they are confused as to whether to take part in the agitation or to concentrate on their studies.
Over and above this, numerous students and individuals are facing a myriad of problems in obtaining mark sheets and certificates as most of the colleges in the State are affiliated to Manipur University, it added.
ATSUM opined that it will be in the best interest of the State Government to resolve the issue amicably and restore a proper academic atmosphere in the varsity before the situation spirals out of control.
It is ATSUM's earnest appeal to the agitating Manipur University Students' Union (MUSU) to come to terms with the authority concerned for sorting out the impasse at the earliest, it added.
