Imphal, June 08 2018:
The State police reportedly failed to take up any kind of action or even file an FIR against the son of a Cabinet Minister, for rash driving and injuring two commando personnel in broad daylight at MG Avenue Junction (along Kanglapat road) at around 2.30 pm today, under City PS .
According to information from the spot, a speeding black colour Honda City car (with fully tinted windows) was witnessed being chased by a vehicle of Imphal West commando from MG Avenue towards Kanglapat junction.
Commando personnel deployed at MG Avenue Kanglapat traffic point signalled the said Honda City car to stop at the junction but instead of obeying the signal, it sped further and rammed the commando personnel who were left injured at the spot.
The car was chased by the commando team and other passers-by in the area toward the official quarter of the Minister.
The source mentioned that the car later came to a stop in front of the Minister's quarter gate after which the commando team surrounded the vehicle and asked the driver to come down from the vehicle.
But instead of listening to the commando personnel, the drive stayed inside the vehicle.
As such the commando personnel pulled out the driver from inside the car and the driver of the Honda City car turned out to be none other than the son of the Minister, the source added.
He was pulled up by the commando team and detained for around an hour inside City Commando unit before being sent back to the Minister's quarter.
A team of City police was also seen entering the Minister's bungalow soon after the Minister's son went inside the quarter, the source claimed.
The commando personnel injured during today's incident were admitted to RIMS with broken legs.
They have been identified as T Akhup Kom (41) of Thayong village and Ningthoujam Anilkumar (28) of Kodompokpi Mamang Leikai.
They are both posted at Commando bazar unit.
When The Sangai Express contacted a senior officer of Imphal West district, the officer claimed that the SP has directed necessary action against the Minister's son at the earliest.
