Maps sent to expert for waste water treatment

Six different maps showing the topography of areas surrounding Nambul River and Waishel Maril, major rivers flowing through the four valley districts of the State, roads, land use, hydrological and geological maps of the State have been sent to a California-based scientist by Manipur Pollution Control Board (MPCB) for formulation of a detailed project report (DPR) for setting up of a Waste Water Treatment and Management Plant in the State.
According to an official source, California-based scientist Dr Sachikumar Majumdar has been engaged by MPCB to study the polluted Nambul River and Waishel Maril, and chalk out plans to mitigate the problem of pollution in Loktak Lake, which is the endpoint of Nambul, Waishel Maril and other rivers.
Dr Majumdar had already studied Nambul and Waishel Maril few weeks back and he is in the process of formulating a DPR for setting of a Waste Water Treatment and Management Plant in the State.
The six different maps sent to Dr Majumdar are of great importance.
The DPR would be formulated based on those maps.
Moreover, scientists from South Korea would also be engaged for this waste water treatment project, the source added.
