Lamka, June 03 2014:
At least four persons were injured in a brawl that occurred sometime on Sunday night, with two severely injured victims being referred to and undergoing treatment at Shija Hospital, Langol.
The fight which occurred in pitch darkness reportedly began after some youth from a particular locality began shouting on the streets, using communally charged languages, allegedly after some of them were beaten up the night before.
As the fight ensued, some people who rushed to the spot were badly beaten up landing at least four of them at the hospital.
With two of the victims identified as Zomuana S/o C Phunthanga, and Lalramhluna S/o Doliana Colney bearing severely bruised and bloodied head, they were immediate referred to Imphal for treatment while the other two were treated at the district hospital here.
The duo were injured while trying to stop the brawl between the two groups, and was not the kind of people who would have joined such a fight, already grown-ups with three-four teenage kids, claimed a source.
Talks, it is said, have been held between the elders of the two groups to settle the case, and the two victims referred to Imphal are still under treatment at Shija Hospital.
