Imphal, June 03 2014:
The report that a new party called Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress (MPTC) has been formed is unauthentic as there are no official documents in support of it, said MLA Th Shyamkumar who has been elected new president of All Indian Trinamool Congress (AITC) Manipur unit.
MLA Shyamkumar who was elected from Andro A/C arrived here from Delhi today.
Although he was accorded a warm reception by party workers, none of the party MLAs were present at the reception function.
AITC General Secretary Derek O' Brien issued a written notification on June 2 informing that MLA Shyamkumar has been elected AITC State unit president.

Speaking to media persons at his quarters, Shyamkumar said that AITC secured fourth highest number of Lok Sabha seats in the Parliamentary elections held in May.
Making irrelevant and irresponsible statements against such a party in the name of politics and democracy is unwarranted and unacceptable, he asserted.
There is no question of split within the party's State unit.
The new party called Manipur State Trinamool Congress headed by MLA Joykisan is not recognised yet.
Documents about the establishment of a new party have not been submitted to the Assembly Speaker.
Shyamkumar said that he has no idea whether the new party has been given recognition or not.
Appointment of a political party's president cannot be done in the way presidents of local clubs are appointed.
It is essential for all party members to understand the party's rules and regulations.
Shyamkumar said that show cause notice would be served in accordance to the party's high command to party members who voted for other candidates rather than the party's candidates in the Lok Sabha elections.
They would be suspended from the party if necessary.
"With the expiry of ad-hoc president Kim Gangte's term, coupled with the dismal performance of the party in Manipur in the Lok Sabha elections, party supremo Mamata Banerjee elected me president of the State unit ," Shyamkumar said.
"As a party president, I would work at the grassroots level to strengthen the party and ensure spectacular performance in the next State Assembly election", he said.
He further pledged to take the role of an active opposition member in order to ensure transparency in governance.
