Imphal, June 03 2014:
SCY, Yumnam Khunou entered the final of the 3rd SAIPO Cup in style convincingly beating PJPC Pukhao Khabam by a convincing margin four goals to one in the second semi-final of the tournament played today.
It was SCY all the way through the match, as they dictated the pace of the match, excelling the rival team in every department of the game.
Man to man and as a team the team from Yumnam Khunou called the shots from the early stage of the game, dominating the match in every aspect.
The flood gates opened as early as the 4th minute of the match, when Th Ngouba received a defence splitting pass on top of the penalty box of PJPC.
Neatly trapping the ball, Ngouba managed to wrong foot a couple of defenders and after outpacing them, had little difficulty in beating the custodian of PJPC hands down and help his team take a one goal lead.
The pressure did not ease as the SCY players were all over the field with better ball possession and better team work.
Repeatedly finding the gaps in the defence of PJPC, the players of SCY toyed around with them and the second goal came off a fine move from the mid field.
Relying on short, crisp passes between them, the forward line of SCY made their way to the penalty box of the rival team where the ball went to L Tomba.
L Tomba managed to shrug off his markers and after a fine short run inside the penalty box, unleashed a powerful kick that sent the custodian of PJPC the wrong way.
Up by two goals to nil, the players of SCY however did not loosen their grip on the match and kept up the pressure.
L Tomba was at it again when he found the net in the 30th minute.
PJPC managed to pull one back in the 32nd minute when Th Geet banged home the ball.
However M Devasekhar completed the rout when he netted the ball in the 41st minute to seal the match.
