MCM condemns act of Lilong Police

Muslim Council Manipur (MCM) has strongly condemned the act of some police personnel of Lilong Police Station for mentally harassing and torturing one Md Abdul Majid, a Constable of Imphal East Police on August 14 .
Recalling the incident, Md Abdul Majid said that on August 14 he was stopped by some police personnel at Waithou, who were conducting frisking and checking, when he was on his way for duty at Malom Reserve Line.
Md Abdul Majid is a resident of Thoubal Moijingmayum Leikai.
While being inquired by the police personnel, the documents of the Royal Enfield 350, which belongs to brother of Abdul Majid, were found to be unmatched with the engine number and chassis number.
Abdul Majid then showed his identity card and informed the police personnel that he was going for his duty.
But the police personnel on the duty charged his Identity Card to be duplicate one and asked him Rs 10,000 for his release, cliamed Abdul Majid.
He claimed that he was tortured by police for two days for refusing to pay the amount and finally he was booked on August 16. Condemning the incident, Secretary General of MCM, Md Haji said that the police personnel who were on duty tortured and mentally harassed Abdul Majid who is also a police personnel.
Without any proper investigation, the personnel charged Abdul Majid with forgery, added Md Haji and demanded immediate transfer of the commandos posted at Lilong Police Station.
Memorandums will be submitted to the Chief Minister and Home Minister soon in the matter and that legal process will be initiated against the erring police personnel, added Md Haji.
